Saturday April 25, 2015 – Red Balloon Run & Ride 5K
The team at Dental Care of Frisco participated in this fun 5K on April 25th. They were part of the “Miles for Smiles” team which was able to raise $1000 for Children’s Health! The Red Balloon Run & Ride is a fundraising program produced by Passion for Children’s for the exclusive benefit of Children’s Health. Participants are encouraged to raise a minimum $100 as part of participation in this event. Children’s needs this support in order to continue to care for kids in their greatest time of need. 100% of the money we raise goes directly to Children’s. We can have a direct impact and be the difference!
Dental Care of Frisco was a proud sponsor of Frisco Humane Society’s 2014 Barktoberfest. They had a great time hanging out with the local rescued pooches all day, and supporting our local city animal rescue!
Blood Drive/Grand Opening
Dental Care of Frisco combined their grand opening and ribbon cutting with the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, with a blood drive with Carter Blood Care! We had a great time with the Frisco Police Officer’s Association, who joined us and cooked hamburgers and hot dogs for our guest and blood donor’s! We exceeded our goal by collecting 19 units of blood, which potentially saved 57 lives!
Our Dentist Giving Back to the Frisco TX Community
A new member of the Frisco community is already doing his part to give back to those in need. Dr. Thomas Grant was an associate at Niceville Family Dentistry in Florida for two years before moving to Frisco to open his private practice. Grant’s practice has partnered with Frisco Family Services and the Frisco Humane Society to help them get much-needed donations on their wish lists. Patients will be able to pay a portion of their dental bill by donating items that are listed on the charity wish lists. Each item donated will provide a 1 percent discount, up to 10 percent.
According to DeDe Boozer-Whitcombe, team leader at the practice, Grant has always been involved with his local community wherever he was at and immediately looked for ways to get involved in Frisco.
“We researched and chose the charities we thought we could help the most locally, contacted them and presented our ideas and got the green light,” she said. “We are very excited about this one-of-a-kind, pay-it-forward program and hope this will be a huge success and possibly catch on with others.”
Grant has also signed up with North Texas Cares, a nonprofit that provides health care to the underserved, to provide dental care to patients in North Texas who are in need.
Cynthia Allen, marketing coordinator for Frisco Family Services, said FFS will sometimes get approached by businesses that are new to Frisco and are looking to give back. The partnerships are also more than welcome because it can be a struggle to provide for the needs of so many year-round.
“During the summer months we actually see a decrease in donations to our Food Pantry, because our largest donor, Frisco ISD, is not in session,” Allen said. “This will help feed those affected by hunger in the Frisco and Frisco ISD communities as well as grow awareness of our agency and mission.”
Grant, a graduate from NOVA Southeastern University with a degree in Microbiology and a Doctorate in Dental Medicine, said his practice offers a family-friendly environment for his patients.
“I’m looking forward to expanding my work in Frisco, Texas,” Grant said.
